Panthers' pitchers deal as Drury sweeps Rockhurst for program's 400th win

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury Softball grabbed their 400th program win in a sweep over Rockhurst on Saturday at Thompson Field. The two wins improved the Panthers to 25-17 while the Hawks fell to 13-19.
 
GAME ONE
The Panthers jumped on the Hawks in the first inning with two runs. Sophia Luetticke led the inning off with a single before stealing second. A Landry Cochran single advanced Luetticke to third. Two batters later, Kaley Adzick would single to score Luetticke and Cochran.
 
Rockhurst cut the Drury lead in half in the top of the second on an error.
 
There would be seven more hits in the game, only two of them from Drury, but AJ Agers would shut down any threat the Hawks had in the game to win the game for the Panthers, 2-1.
 
Kaley Adzick was the top bat for Drury in game one, going 2-3 with two RBIs. AJ Agers threw seven innings with no earned runs and four strikeouts. The complete game was Agers' eighth straight start throwing a complete game.
 
GAME TWO
Drury scored two in the first for the second time on the day. Luetticke had another lead-off single before stealing second. Landry Cochran would double to score Luetticke. Cochran would advance to third on an AJ Agers infield single. With runners on the corners, Drury would put a double steal on, scoring Cochran but Agers would be out at second.
 
Jordyn Foley got the game-two start for Drury and threw 3.2 innings of no-hit softball. Her first hit was a soft single in the fourth inning into left field.
 
AJ Agers added to the Drury advantage in the fifth with a hit to center field that resulted in an error to score Landry Cochran.
 
The Panthers closed out the scoring in the sixth when Avery Budde grounded out to first but with two runners on was able to score Brooklyn LaChappa. Drury completed the sweep with their second shutout of the season, 4-0.
 
Sophia Luetticke and AJ Agers both had two hits in the second game. Jordyn Foley grabbed the win to move to 6-6. She went 4.1 innings with no runs and one strikeout. She was relieved by Natalie Wilks and Avery Budde. Budde earned the save, her second of the season.
 
NOTES
Sophia Luetticke stole three bases on the day tying the Drury single-season record of 37 with Stacy Razo. Victoria Garland threw out three runners in the two games, two in game one and one in game two, she also picked a runner off on third base in game one.
 
UP NEXT
Drury host William Jewell tomorrow afternoon for a Youth Day doubleheader starting at noon. All kids 12 and under receive free admission, a hot dog, chips, drink, and a free Drury Softball poster (while supplies last) with a team signing after the game.
