ROLLA, Mo.— Drury finished their four-game series at Missouri S&T with a 5-2 win over the Miners on Saturday in Rolla, Missouri.
The win gave the Panthers a split in the four-game set and lifted Drury's record to 21-19 and 11-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Missouri S&T went to 21-15 and 13-11 in the GLVC.
Drury trailed 2-1 going into the sixth inning, but scored twice in the top half of the inning to take the lead.
Hesston Gray belted a double to tie the game at 2-2, then the Panthers went in front 3-2 on a ground ball from
Connor Bain.
Drury held off the Miners in the final three innings and tacked on two insurance runs in the ninth on a two-run homer from
Kaden Byrne, his second of the year.
Markel Dixon (2-3) went six innings to get the win for the Panthers. Dixon allowed just four hits and two runs with three walks and five strikeouts.
Luc Fuller pitched the final three innings for the save and did not allow a hit, striking out three as he closed out the game. Drury pitching held the Miners to four hits in the game and no extra base hits.
Andrew Hedgecorth (3-1) took the loss for Missouri S&T.
Byrne finished the game going 2 for 3 with three runs batted in.
Drury is on the road again next weekend with a four-game series at Indianapolis starting April 17 with a 2 pm (Central) first pitch.
