Drury hosts Emporia State in midweek non-conference doubleheader
Drury will put their nine-game winning streak on the line against Emporia State on Wednesday at Thompson Field.
Â
Drury had a milestone weekend against Rockhurst and William Jewell. The Panthers won their 400th program game, were the first team to clinch their spot in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) tournament, moved to first place in the GLVC, and
Sophia Luetticke broke the single-season stolen base record.
Natalie Wilks had a win and a save against William Jewell. She was the second Drury pitcher to pick up a win and a save against one team this season.
AJ Agers completed this against Quincy.
Sophia Luetticke is one stolen base away from tying the career stolen base record. She currently has 66, one stolen base would tie Stacy Razo. Lewis led the GLVC in entering play last weekend. The Flyers dropped three of four games to slide to five losses. With Drury winning four games last weekend that tied kept them at five GLVC losses and pushed the Panthers to the top because their league win percentage is higher.
Â
Emporia State will be playing in their first and only non-conference midweek of the season. The Hornets have a 26-20 record and are 7-13 in the MIAA. In the last ten games, Emporia State has two wins. Emporia State has played 15 one-run games this season, winning eight of them. Drury is 11-5 in one-run games this season and has won the last eight one-run games they have been in. Brooke Flewelling is the top Hornet bat. She hits .310 on the season with 41 RBIs. The pitching staff is being held together by three pitchers, with the ace being Gracie Rabe. She is 9-10 with a 2.48 ERA in 19 starts. The Hornets do have the Panthers number as of recently, winning three of the last four all were played in Emporia. Overall Emporia State holds a 6-4 record in the series. The two teams have only played in one doubleheader in the series' history, Drury swept that doubleheader in 2022, which was played in Springfield.
Â
The Panthers travel to Missouri-St. Louis on Friday for their lone GLVC doubleheader of the weekend.
