SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury split with Emporia State on Wednesday. The Hornets won game one, 3-1, and the Panthers took game two 2-1. Drury is now 28-18 and Emporia State is 27-21.
GAME ONE
Sophia Luetticke led the game off for Drury with a triple. Luetticke would score on a sac fly from
Landry Cochran for the Panthers' first and only run.
Emporia State took the lead in the top of the second with two runs. The Hornets scored both runs on back-to-back bases loaded with ground balls. The first one resulted in a throwing error on a play at the plate, followed by a fielder's choice.
The Hornets scored the final run of the game in the third inning on a sac fly.
Only one runner reached third base in the final five innings of game one. Emporia State took game one, 3-1, to end Drury's nine-game winning streak.
Kaley Adzick had two singles in the game to lead Drury.
AJ Agers pitched a complete game. The three runs that scored for the Hornets were all unearned. Agers' record fell to 9-6.
GAME TWO
The Panthers scored first in game two, similar to game one. In the second inning,
Victoria Garland singled to start the inning. A fielding error allowed
Brooklyn LaChappa to reach first and Garland second.
Reece Anderson would then double to score Garland. LaChappa would be thrown out at the plate trying to take the extra base.
Drury would extend their lead in the third inning.
Landry Cochran reached first on a fielder's choice and would end up on third base. Two batters later,
AJ Agers ground out and picked up an RBI to score Cochran.
Emporia State tightened the game in the fourth. A leadoff double followed by a single made the score 2-1.
No runs were scored following the fourth inning, but in the fifth inning,
Sophia Luetticke singled and then stole second to become the new career record holder in stolen bases. She now sits with 68 career steals.

AJ Agers was forced into action at shortstop and made a diving play with a glove flip to
Brooklyn LaChappa followed by a throw to
Kaley Adzick at first to close the game, 2-1, on a double play.

Sophia Luetticke,
AJ Agers,
Victoria Garland, and
Reece Anderson.
Jordyn Foley threw a complete game, striking four out. The one run that scored was unearned. She improves to 7-6 on the season.
The one-run win was Drury's ninth straight win in games that are decided by one run.

Drury will play their lone GLVC doubleheader of the weekend on Friday at Missouri-St. Louis.
