Five Panthers named to All-GLVC team

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury had five players named to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference in a vote of league coaches this week. Third baseman Jackson Crider and relief pitcher Luc Fuller were named to the First Team. Second baseman Wyatt Morgan and starting pitcher Gage Hayes were named to the Second Team and outfielder Connor Bain was an honorable mention selection.
 
Jackson Crider leads the GLVC in hitting as a freshman as the San Antonio, Texas, native hit .429 and was a unanimous selection as an all-conference performer. Crider is also first in the league in on-base percentage with a .548 mark and is second in the conference in hits with 73. He also leads the GLVC in hit-by-pitch and set a program record this year, getting beaned 26 times. Crider reached base safely in 29 straight games this season and enters the GLVC tournament with 11 home runs and a team-high 41 runs batted in.
 
Luc Fuller was also a First Team selection and is 2-0 with seven saves and a 0.46 earned run average. The senior from St. Louis has 12 appearances and has struck out 19 against four walks in 19.2 innings. His seven saves ranks second in the GLVC. The award marks Fuller's first all-conference selection.
 
Wyatt Morgan, a graduate transfer from Missouri Southern State and Kansas City, Kansas, was a Second Team selection at second base after hitting .303 with 11 home runs and 37 RBIs while hitting in the lead-off position for most of the season. Morgan earned GLVC Player of the Week honors in the last week of the regular season after hitting .636 in four games with three home runs and seven RBIs.
 
Starting pitcher Gage Hayes was also named a Second Team All-GLVC selection. Hayes is 6-1 with a 4.41 ERA and has struck out 60 with 14 walks in 69.1 innings. The junior from Lake Winnebago, Missouri, is tied for sixth in the GLVC in wins and he is eighth in the league in earned run average. It is the first all-conference selection for Hayes.
 
Outfielder Connor Bain earned honorable mention all-conference honors. The Troy, Illinois, native is hitting .327 with six home runs and 37 RBIs. Bain owns a .506 slugging percentage and has 13 stolen bases. The junior earned his second consecutive honorable mention All-GLVC award.
 
The Panthers are 31-21 and finished fourth in the GLVC with a 21-11 league record. Drury will open the GLVC Tournament on Wednesday morning with a 9 am game against fifth-seeded Indianapolis at Mt. Dew Park in Marion, Illinois.
