LIBERTY, Mo. – Drury picked up its third straight shutout on Wednesday evening at Liberty in rainy conditions, posting a 3-0 win over William Jewell.
In the last two matches, the Panthers have forced opposing goalkeepers into action early, and it was no different Wednesday.
Carly Swan,
Bella Hernandez and
Melissa Higgins combined for six shots in the first 22 minutes, forcing Jenna Skeeters to make three saves.
Still without a shot attempt from William Jewell, the Panthers put the first goal on the scoreboard in the 24th minute.
Keira Love dribbled up the far side of the field and delivered a perfect cross to Higgins in the middle of the penalty area. Higgins used her right foot to score the match's first goal.
Holding a 1-0 advantage into the 60th minute, Drury, while still maintaining the majority of possession, added a second goal from
Keira Love, who received a pass from
Grace Pohl.
Into the 66th minute,
Baylea Davis found the back of the net and got her name on the scoresheet. A free kick from 20 yards out was taken by Davis, and she fired it past the goalkeeper for the game's final goal, 3-0.
