SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – No. 10 Drury men's soccer handed Quincy its first conference loss of the season with a 1-0 win in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play Saturday afternoon.

Jack Brinkman got Drury started on the right foot early, forcing a save from Quincy goalkeeper Jake Offerman with a shot in the fourth minute. The Hawks responded with three shots of their own over the next 10 minutes, but none could find the target. David Huang had another chance for the Panthers in the 28th minute, forcing another save from Offerman. Ben Barnett was called into action for the first time in the 31st minute on a shot by Quincy's Josh Nwosu. Neither side could create another dangerous opportunity in the first half, sending the match into halftime scoreless.

Drury once again created the first chance of the half, as Caua Nascimento's effort struck the crossbar in the 55th minute. The Panthers did not find another shot until the 66th minute, when Antonio Santos' long-range effort rattled the crossbar for Drury's second near miss of the half. Nascimento had another chance in the 71st minute, but Offerman was there to make the save.

The Panthers finally broke through in the 77th minute, as a loose ball inside the Quincy penalty area found Steen Voller. Voller beat his defender to the end line before finding Sigurdur Thorisson in front of goal, who tapped the ball into the back of the net to give Drury a 1-0 lead.

Quincy attempted its first shot of the second half in the 82nd minute, but it went wide. The Hawks continued to push for an equalizer, but the Panthers held firm defensively. Drury nearly doubled its advantage on the counterattack in the closing minutes, as Mason Platts broke through on goal before being brought down outside the box by Offerman. The Quincy goalkeeper was shown a red card in the 89th minute, reducing the Hawks to 10 men. The Panthers saw out the final minute to hand Quincy its first loss in GLVC play, 1-0.
