SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury posted its third shutout of the season against Rockhurst on Wednesday night at Lake Country, battling to a 0-0 draw.
The Panthers forced Rockhurst goalkeeper Sydney Schnarr into action early.
Carly Swan tested Schnarr in the second minute, forcing a save to keep Drury off the board. Swan's attempt was one of four Drury shots on goal in the opening half.
None of the Panthers' first-half chances came closer than
Leah McDonald's opportunity in the 35th minute. Following a Hawks yellow card just outside the penalty area, McDonald took the free kick and placed it just under the crossbar, but Schnarr made a leaping save to keep the ball out of the net and preserve the scoreless match.
Shots on goal were scarce early in the second half. Drury took four shots in the first 30 minutes after halftime, none of them on target. In the 78th minute, Schnarr was called into action again on a shot from
Melissa Higgins that resulted in a Drury corner kick. Off the ensuing corner,
Bella Hernandez put a strong shot on frame, but Schnarr made another save.
The Panthers maintained pressure throughout the closing minutes but were unable to convert, ending the match in a scoreless draw.
