EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Another strong showing by both

Great Lakes Valley Conference Swimming and Diving Championships has the Panthers poised to compete for their respective team titles at Deaconess Aquatic Center.
The Drury women, ranked No. 4 nationally, maintained their hold on the top spot in the team standings, thanks in large part to big performances in the 400 IM and 200 free, as well as another second-place effort in a relay -- the 400 medley.

Gwen Bergum (4:22.48) in third and
Alyssa Freimanis (4:31.55) in fourth.

DU also benefited from

On the men's side, top-ranked Drury was plagued by a key injury, as 400 IM top seed
Joao Nogueira was forced to pull out of the competition. The Panthers clawed their way back behind a valiant effort in the 100 fly, led by
Ivan Adamchuk's (47.34) third-place effort. The junior from Belarus was followed by
Yuri Cabral (48.27) and
Elliot Weber, who claimed the consolation final with a swim of 47.82.
Following his GLVC Championship record-setting performance in the 50 free on Wednesday,
Lucas Mineur spearheaded the Panthers' efforts in the 200 free, finishing second with a time of 1:35.42.
Matteo Vissotto (1:36.39) notched a fourth-place effort, while
Alvaro Zornoza (1:36.91) finished fifth and
Josue Hernandez-Tellez (1:37.22) placed sixth.
Additionally, the quartet of Zornoza, Weber, Adamchuk and Cabral turned in a silver-worthy effort in the 400 medley relay (3:09.71).
DU earned points in the men's 1-meter diving competition, behind
Carter Austin's (460.90) third-place performance.
