Panthers Drop Second-Straight Contest to UCO, 4-0

EDMOND, Okla. — Central Oklahoma scored four early runs before starting pitcher Danny Satterlee and four Bronchos relievers held No. 17 Drury baseball scoreless in a 4-0 victory over the Panthers that clinched a series win for the home club Saturday afternoon at Wendell Simmons Field.

Satterlee (1-1) scattered five hits while striking out five Drury hitters over the first five frames, before Tristan Wittau, Zack Hudspeth, Logan Taylor and Mylan Childers turned in scoreless innings to secure the Bronchos' second-straight win over the previously-unbeaten Panthers.

Joey Funk delivered a strong effort in relief for Drury (4-2), as the senior left-hander fanned five batters while blanking the Bronchos on five hits over the last 6.0 innings.

UCO (9-3) produced all of its offense in the first two innings, striking for three runs in the first and another in the second to build its four-run advantage. Colton Ayers sparked the Bronchos' first-inning rally with a leadoff single against DU starter Caden Crask-Weeks (0-1), then moved to second when Luke Stout was hit by a pitch. A sacrifice moved both baserunners into scoring position, before a wild pitch brought in Ayers with the first run of the day.

Next, a walk followed by a Kade Sheldon single loaded the bases, before back-to-back walks to Elijah Alexander and Jackson Archambeau plated two more runs for UCO.

In the second, a Caleb Castle leadoff single and a walk to Ayers set up another Bronchos threat. A fielder's choice moved Castle to third, before a DU throwing error brought him home with an unearned run and a 4-0 UCO lead.

Satterlee wouldn't need any more support than that, as the junior right-hander worked out of a first-inning jam, then coaxed a rally-killing double-play grounder in the third to keep the Panthers off the board. He then fanned a pair of batters in the fourth, before working a 1-2-3 fifth inning.

Drury's best scoring opportunity came in the sixth, when Jackson Crider singled off Satterlee, and Logan Reidelberger drew a walk from Wittau, who then promptly struck out three of the next four hitters to thwart the rally.

Crider was the lone Panther to record a multi-hit afternoon, finishing 3-for-4, as Drury was limited to a season-low seven hits on the day.

LOOKING AHEAD
Drury concludes its stay in Edmond Sunday (Feb. 22), when the Panthers and Bronchos will face off in the final game of the series at Noon.
