SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury softball opens its 2026 home season on Tuesday, March 10, against Augustana at 1 pm at Thompson Field at Meador Park.
The Panthers and Vikings have become regular early-season foes over the past three seasons, playing at least one game every year since 2023. Augustana has dropped its last five games after starting the season ninth in the national poll. Drury is coming off a split against No. 14 Central Oklahoma, for their second win against a top-25 team this season.
Fans may follow the action through the GLVC Sports Network (subscription required), where games will be streamed live throughout the regular season. New for the 2025-26 academic year, viewing access to GLVC regular season and postseason broadcasts will be available via monthly subscription ($30) or annual subscription ($140). Single-event access can also be purchased for $15. Select games, including the doubleheader against Augustana, will have free audio coverage on DU All-Access.
SERIES HISTORY
- Augustana holds the all-time series four games to two.
- Drury has won two of the last three meetings, including last season's game, while the Vikings were ranked No. 8 in the country.
- The Panthers are averaging 2.2 runs per game in the series history, and the Vikings are scoring 5.0 runs per game.
- Brooke Gajewski is 2-3 against Augustana in her Drury tenure.
STORYLINES
- Drury enters play 6-9 on the season, after splitting their most recent doubleheader against No. 14 Central Oklahoma in Edmond.
- The win over UCO was the Panthers' second-ranked win of the season, No. 24 Missouri Southern on Feb. 6. Drury is 2-1 against top-25 teams this season.
- Under Brooke Gajewski, Drury is now 6-8 against teams ranked.
- Tuesday will be the Panthers' first game at Thompson Field at Meador Park in the 2026 season. Last season, Drury was 18-6 at home. Under Gajewski, the Panthers are 31-17 at Thompson Field.
- Last season, the Panthers made their deepest run in the national tournament in program history, to the regional final. Through 15 games this season, Drury's record is one game better than last season, 6-9.
- That 15th game a season ago was on March 8; that date was marked as the turning point for the Panthers. In Drury's final 42 games of the season, they finished 29-13.
- This season, Drury's offense has been led by Isabel Ervin. The sophomore second baseman is hitting .321 with an OPS of .822. She missed the opening weekend of the season, but since returning has been a staple at the top of the Drury lineup.
- Haley Bryant and Claire Nelson are also both hitting about .300. Bryant is at .310 with a home run and five RBIs. Nelson is hitting .308 with 12 hits.
- The freshman, Nelson, in her first career eight games had 11 hits, the second most by a Drury freshman in their first eight games since Mandy Burnett had 13 in the 2008 season. Since that run, Nelson has cooled off with one hit in the most recent six games.
- Following the Washburn Invitational, Landry Cochran was named to the NFCA's National Performers of the Week. Cochran was 6-for-10 with two stolen bases and four putouts from her centerfield position.
- Kaley Adzick has stood out in the circle for the Panthers. After missing a majority of last season's pitching, Adzick leads the team with a 2.03 ERA, two complete games, nine earned runs allowed, 19 strikeouts, while hitters are only hitting .235 against her. Adzick's 2.03 ERA is eighth-best in the GLVC.
- The Panthers' middle infield of Reece Anderson and Isabel Ervin is one of the top in the nation. Drury is 21st in the nation in double plays turned with nine. They average 0.60 per game, tenth best in NCAA Division II.
- Anderson is one of the most reliable shortstops in the country, just as a sophomore. In her freshman campaign, Anderson broke the Drury single-season assist record with 160. So far this season, Anderson is averaging 3.27 assists per game, third best in the country. She has 49 total.
- Augustana had strong preseason expectations, voted preseason No. 9 nationally and NSIC favorites after a run to the NCAA Super Regional last season.
- The Vikings' Desi Cuevas was voted as the NSIC Preseason Player of the Year. So far this season, Cuevas is hitting .258 in 17 games played.
- Augustana is led, offensively, by Kierra Lubovich. The freshman is hitting .453 with nine extra-base hits and 11 RBIs in her first 17 career games.
- Augustana's top pitcher is Helene Krage. Krage has a 3.94 ERA in 10 appearances this season. She has posted a 1-4 record in 37.1 innings pitched. She is the only pitcher who has a 4.00 ERA for the Vikings.
