Drury's Offense Explodes in Sweep of Lewis

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Drury won their fourth straight game with explosive offense performances and shutdown pitching in the sweep of Lewis to improve to 19-22.

GAME ONE – Drury 6, Lewis 3
Coming off the Panthers second doubleheader sweep of the season, Drury was in search of their third straight win.

Drury scored five runs in the first inning to take an early lead. Claire Nelson drove in Emma Niemczyk after she reached on an error. A Kaley Adzick double scored Landry Cochran. A second straight double from Isabel Ervin cleared the bases to score Adzick and Nelson.

Lewis responded in the bottom of the second with two runs of their own on two hits.

Still 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth, the Flyers scored on an RBI single from Chloe Kohnhorst to make it a 5-3 game.

The Flyers' tightening the game up did not faze the Panthers. An error by the Flyers put Niemczyk on first; she advanced on a walk by Nelson. Niemczyk scored the next at-bat on another double from Kaley Adzick.

Lewis threatened in the bottom of the seventh, but Jordyn Foley shut them down, giving Drury the 6-3 win.

Drury opened the game up in the third inning with four runs on three hits and a Lewis error.

After Kaley Adzick put the Flyers down in order for the second straight inning, Drury scored two more in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI double from Isabel Ervin and a sac fly from Reece Anderson to set the Panthers up for the run-rule win.
