SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury softball hits the road for the first time since March 22 for a doubleheader at No. 4 Pittsburg State on Tuesday (April 7) evening.
The Panthers have dropped five straight games, their longest losing streak since Drury started 0-5 in the 2025 season. Pitt State lost just its second game of the season last weekend to Rogers State. The only other loss the Gorillas have this season is Feb. 28 against Winona State at a neutral site.
The game can be watched on the MIAA Network for a single game price of $15.75.
SERIES HISTORY
- Drury is 9-14 against Pittsburg State all-time.
- The Panthers did sweep the Gorillas last season when Pitt State was ranked 25th in the nation. It was the highest-ranked sweep in Drury's program history.
- The two wins for Drury last season are the only times that Brooke Gajewski has faced the Gorillas.
STORYLINES
- Drury is looking to avoid being swept for the third consecutive doubleheader and end their losing streak. The longest losing streak under Brooke Gajewski is six games in her first season from March 13-23.
- Despite the recent losses, Drury has played the second-toughest schedule in the Midwest region, only behind Missouri-St. Louis.
- This season, Drury is 3-4 against top 25 teams. If the Panthers were able to pull out a win, it would be the highest-ranked win in program history, passing the win against No. 5 Indianapolis on April 24, 2021.
- The Panthers have played in 16 one-run games this season, and they are 7-9 in those games. Last season, Drury was 13-7 in games decided by one run.
- Drury has struggled with errors this season. In 14 games, they have committed at least two errors, winning only one.
- Kaley Adzick is six strikeouts away from her 200th career strikeout, combined with her time at Webster and Drury. In Adzick's last outing, she struck out four batters to move into tenth place at Drury in career strikeouts with 144. She is six away from moving into ninth all-time.
- Adzick jumped into the top three in the GLVC in ERA with a 1.92. She does rank seventh in the league in losses with seven.
- Reece Anderson is 52 assists away from tying her own record for single-season assists of 160.
- Gabrielle Bax is 28 assists shy of 200 career.
- Pittsburg State is ranked fourth in the country with a 35-2 record and 9-1 in MIAA play. Using the formula to calculate KPI, the Gorillas are ranked first in NCAA Division II. The most recent loss for Pittsburg State was on April 3 in a split with Rogers State. The only other loss for the Gorillas was on Feb. 28 to Winona State.
- Three-time All-American Heather Arnett is back at shortstop for a fourth season at Pittsburg State. Arnett is hitting .559 this season, the second-best average in NCAA-II. She tops the country in hits with 85 and runs scored with 61. Arnett ranks top 15 in on-base percentage (10th, .575), stolen bases (6th, 37), total bases (8th, 109), and triples (15th, 5).
- There are eight other Gorillas that have played in at least 15 games this season that are hitting over .300, with three of those eight hitting over. 400.
- The Gorillas' pitching staff is anchored by Emma Crabb. Crabb has been used primarily as a bullpen arm. She has come out of the bullpen in 11 of her 20 appearances, holding a 1.71 ERA in 73.2 innings pitched. Opponents are hitting .188 against Crabb in her junior season, but it's her first at Pittsburg State. Lexi Franklin and Ava Laurent have each started a team-high 12 games in the circle, setting them up to be the two arms that Drury faces to start the doubleheader.

Drury is back on the road for a doubleheader at Lewis (April 11), followed by a trip to Upper Iowa (April 12).
