ST. LOUIS – Drury's defense pitched its second consecutive shutout in a 0-0 draw against Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday night in St. Louis.
The Panthers had the first strong chance in the 21st minute when
Melissa Higgins put a shot on frame, but she was unable to convert, giving the Tritons opportunities to take a first-half lead.
Katy Fitzler and the Drury back line faced nine shots in the opening half and kept UMSL off the board.
UMSL maintained its offensive pressure in the second half, taking six shots in the final 45 minutes. Drury generated late chances of its own, including shots on goal from
Keira Love and
Bella Hernandez. In the 90th minute, Hernandez's attempt gave the Panthers a chance to steal the win, but Allysa Wolf made the save to secure the 0-0 draw.
MATCH NOTES
- UMSL outshot Drury 14-10, though the Panthers held a 4-3 edge in shots on goal.
- Katy Fitzler recorded three saves, marking her fourth straight match with at least two.
- Fitzler's shutout was the 26th of her career, third most in program history.
