KIRKSVILLE, Mo. –
Carly Swan's 68th-minute goal lifted Drury to a 1-1 draw with Truman State in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) opener on Saturday, Sept. 5 in Kirksville.
The Panthers came out firing in the opening 20 minutes, taking six shots to test Truman goalkeeper Mikayla Thomas early. Drury's aggressive start turned against them in the 21st minute when the Bulldogs broke through on a goal from Aubrey Kaupas, assisted by Quinn Nauman. Truman carried the 1-0 advantage into halftime.
Drury maintained its shot-heavy approach in the second half, generating 10 attempts. In the 68th minute,
Melissa Higgins dribbled into the corner and sent a cross into the box, where her freshman classmate
Carly Swan rose above Thomas to head it home for the equalizer.
Neither team produced another strong chance in the final stretch, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
