LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A late penalty kick (76:26 ) by Emily Hollander gave Bellarmine a 2-1 GLVC victory over the Drury women's soccer team at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium on Friday.
Drury is now 5-3-3 overall and 3-3-3 in the GLVC and Bellarmine is now 8-2-2 overall and 6-1-2 in the GLVC.
Gabby Menendez netted team third goal of the season coming off a
Emily Cline assist just before the end of the first half (44:16) to give the Drury women the first lead of the game. Mary Beth Gorham scored her team leading seventh goal of the year on a 40 yard free kick at the 62:54 mark to tie it up for the Knights.
Hollander netted a penalty kick for her first goal of the year to give the Knights the edge and a 2-1 win.
Cline took a team high six shots for the Panthers and freshman
Rachel Krueger got off three. The Knights were led by Gorham who took five shots. The Panthers posted a 16-10 advantage on shots, with 11 of those coming in the second half. The Panthers also held a seven to four advantage on shots on goal and took three corners to the Knights two.
Tina Haberberger tallied two saves in goal and the Knights Hannah Poteet posted six saves.
The DU women's soccer team will continue GLVC road action at McKendree on Sunday set for a noon start.
