AURORA, Ill. - The Drury volleyball Panthers opened play at the seventh annual Mizuno GLVC/GLIAC Crossover with a 3-0 sweep over Northwood and then downed Ashland in the nightcap 3-1 at the Great Lakes Center on Friday.
Drury goes to (11-8) on the year and Northwood falls to 6-10. Northwood has now lost five of their last six matches. Drury claimed the match by scores of 25-22, 25-9 and 25-23.Â
Drury is the 11
th seed from the GLVC and Northwood is the 12
th seed from the GLIAC.Â
In the Panthers match vs. Northwood,
BJ Specht led the Panthers with a .471 hitting percentage and nine kills with just one error on 17 attacks and added four serving aces. Â
Kaleigh Cole hit .385 with seven kills and just two errors in 13 attacks.Â
Mina House hit .357 with six kills and just one error on 14 attacks
Bridget Justis posted a team high 18 digs with three serving aces and
Brooke Antenen had 30 assists and matched a team high with three block assists.
Allison Getty had a team high 10 kills for Northwood who hit .122 for the match. Drury finished with a .252 hitting mark.
Drury knocked off Ashland in their final match Friday by scores of 18-25, 25-18,25-18 and 25-16. Ashland falls to 5-12 on the season. Ashland fell 3-2 in the opening match of the day to Southern Indiana.
Leading the way for the Panthers vs. Ashland was
Chloe Foster who hit .476 and had 10 kills.Â
Sara Borneman had a team high 11 kills and hit .346.Â
Laynie Timmons posted eight kills and hit .316. Justis posted a team high 18 digs and Antenen added 37 assists.
Drury will take on 16th seeded Lake Erie tomorrow in Aurora, Illinois at the Great Lakes Center with match time set for 1 p.m.
