Kameron Bundy scored 26 points to lead four Panthers in double-figures as No. 4 Drury pulled away in the second half for an 81-71 victory over Missouri Western to close out the Doubletree Hotel/Houlihan's Thanksgiving Classic Saturday at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
Mike Nwelue added 18 points and tournament MVP
Cameron Adams had 16 points for the Panthers, who moved to 4-1 on the season.
Drake Patterson chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds for Drury, which won its 30th consecutive game at The O'.
The Panthers had to rally from a five-point halftime deficit (41-36) to do so, as the Griffons (2-3) shot 65 percent in the opening half (17 of 26) before finishing at 51 percent for the game (28 of 55) after making just 38 percent of their shots after halftime.
Drury outscored Western 45-30 in the second half to turn it around. The Panthers led 57-54 with 10:16 to go, but then put together a 16-1 run over the next six minutes to break it open for a 73-55 lead with 3:36 to go. Patterson had a pair of 3-pointers and a layup to key the surge.
"We talked about this being a toughness game ... back to back early in the year is always tough because the physical conditioning, Missouri WEstern is coming off a loss and had the urgency ... they were the tougher team in the first half," Drury coach
Steve Hesser said. "We gave up 65 percent shooting, and that says a lot about your defense, or lack thereof.
"The second half ... we came out and guarded better. Field goal percentage defense and offense to me are the two most important stats ... we've got to play defense for longer periods of time, and that's what we're stressing and trying to work on."

Hesser praised the work of sophomore
DaShaun Stark, naming him his game MVP after Stark had five rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal in a career-high 25 minutes.
Ryan Devers had 18 points to lead Missouri Western, which received 14 points from Currie Byrd and 11 points and seven rebounds from all-tournament selection Kevin Thomas.
East Central defeated Cameron 96-95 in overtime in Saturday's other contest to go 2-0 in the Thanksgiving Classic as well. The Tigers (5-2), coached by former DU assistant Ja Havens, played Henry Pwono and Stirling Thomas on the all-tourney team with Western's Thomas and Drury's Bundy and Adams.
The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, playing host to Central Christian in a 7 p.m. tipoff at The O'.
