No 19 Lady Panthers Roll To 82-46 Victory Over Illinois Springfield

No. 19 Drury made seven 3-pointers in the game's first 12 minutes and coasted to an 82-46 victory over Illinois Springfield in Great Lakes Valley Conference play Thursday night at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.

No starter played more than 17 minutes as the Lady Panthers improved to 17-3 overall and 11-1 in the GLVC with their 14th win in their last 15 games and fifth straight.

Illinois Springfield fell to 5-15 and 1-11.

Drury snagged a 15-4 lead in the game's first four minutes - including a pair of treys from Addy Roller and one from Annie Armstrong - and pushed that 33-13 by the midway point of the first half. A 3-pointer by reserve Becca Steins gave the Lady Panthers seven treys (the magic number for $1 sundaes at Andy's Frozen Custard ... at the earliest point of a game in recent memory).

"I thought we came out strong ... our goal was to really get better at our motion offense, and I thought we moved the ball well," Drury first-year coach Molly Miller said. "We wanted ball-movement, screening and an inside-out presence, and I thought we had that tonight.

"We got some quality minutes from everyone on the bench tonight, which is nice. It was good to get everyone involved tonight."

Alice Heinzler had 14 points to lead a balanced DU attack, while Breana Baker had 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds and Roller finished with 10 points as 13 Lady Panthers found the scoring column on the night.

Drury finished at 54 percent from the field (32 of 59) for the game, while holding the Prairie Stars to 33 percent (17 of 52), forcing the visitors into 24 turnovers as well.

Hannah Dressler had seven boards for DU, which ended up with a 35-33 rebounding advantage.

The Lady Panthers conclude their four-game homestand on Saturday when they entertain McKendree on "The Courts/The FieldHouse Youth Sports Day." All kids wearing a sports jersey or team t-shirt from any sport get in for free, and their parents pay just $1 each. The festivities will also include drawings for the kids and a post-game "Knockout" competition by age group and gender, as well as autograph parties with both the Lady Panthers and Panthers after each game.
