AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Minnesota State-Mankato used 13 hits in route to a 10-6 victory over the Drury baseball Panthers at Lake Myrtle Park Field on Friday.
Drury is now 2-3 on the season and Minnesota-State Mankato improved to 3-0.
Mankato scored three runs on four hits in the top of the first for an early 3-0 advantage.
Tyler Arthur scored on a throwing error in the bottom of the second to get Drury on the board and cut the lead to 3-1. Both teams took advantage or errors in the fourth inning to score runs as
Dallas Williams crossed for the Panthers to cut the Mavericks lead to 4-2.
The Panthers scored two runs on one hit and an error in the fifth highlighted by an RBI double by
Mike Rafter to plate
Ryan Wadkins to tie it up at four. Rafter later scored on an Mankato throwing error.
Mankato scored six runs on five hits and and four errors in the top of the seventh to pull away 10-4. A two RBI single by
Dallas Williams in the seventh scored the Panthers final two runs to cut the lead to 10-6.
Trevor Richards (0-2) received the loss and Mitchell Bauer (1-0) earned the win for the Mavericks.
The Drury recorded 10 hits and was led by
Dallas Williams with two hits, two RBIs and a run. Rafter led the Panthers with two hits in the contest.
Next up for the Drury baseball Panthers will be a doubleheader tomorrow vs. Grand Valley State starting at 2:30 p.m. (C.S.T.) in Leesburg, Florida with games at Pat Thomas Stadium.
