Baseball Panthers To Host Truman For Four-Game GLVC Series Starting Friday

Drury will continue an eight-game homestand by playing host to Truman State in a four-game Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball series beginning at 5 p.m. Friday at Meador Park.

Coach Scott Nasby's Panthers (14-14-1 overall, 9-9-1 in the GLVC) are tentatively scheduled to play the Bulldogs (20-10, 11-7) in a single nine-inning game on Friday (5 p.m.), followed by a Saturday (1 p.m.) doubleheader and a Sunday single nine starting at noon - though a wet Sunday forecast could call for a format change to playing a pair on Friday evening (stay tuned to drurypanthers.com and the @drurypanthers account on Twitter for updates).

Drury is coming off a split at Meador on Tuesday with Central Missouri, with the Panthers winning the opener of the non-conference doubleheader by a 9-3 count before falling 13-1 in the nightcap.

The Panthers are in sixth place in the GLVC West standings, with Truman sitting in fourth. Missouri S&T, which visits Meador for a doubleheader on Tuesday to complete eight straight home contests for DU.

Truman split a home doubleheader with Rockhurst last weekend in Kirksville, then split a non-conference pair at Missouri Western on Tuesday, winning 4-3 and losing 14-1. The Bulldogs of coach Dan Davis are hitting .308 as a team (third in the GLVC) and have a 4.66 earned run average as a pitching staff.

Senior outfielder Jarod Hahn has a team-leading seven homers and 31 RBIs to go with a .281 batting average and team-high 30 runs scored.

On the mound, redshirt freshman right-hander Kent Frantz is 5-0 with a 2.04 ERA and junior right-hander Mark Roberts is 2-0 with a 3.14 ERA to pace the Bulldogs.

Senior first baseman Luke Tewes is batting .377 with eight homers and 26 RBIs to lead the Panthers in all three categories, while senior outfielder Dallas Williams is hitting .359 with a team-high 28 runs scored to go with four homers and 18 RBIs.
