Panthers Blank McKendree 3-0 Behind Two Morris Goals

Kerri Morris scored a goal in each half and the Drury defense clamped down on McKendree for a 3-0 shutout of the Bearcats in Great Lakes Valley Conference women's soccer play Friday night at Harrison Stadium in the Curry Sports Complex.

Drury moved to 4-1-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the GLVC in pushing its unbeaten home streak to 18 consecutive matches (13-0-5), dating back to a 1-0 loss to Quincy on October 11, 2013.

McKendree fell to 4-2-1 and 3-2-0.

Morris scored her first goal in the seventh minute off a Mariah Gove assist to get the Panthers off to a quick start, and a tally by Rachel Krueger (Ciara O'Brien assist) gave Drury a 2-0 lead at the break. Morris scored an unassisted goal at 60:28 - her team-leading fifth of the season - for more DU breathing room.

Drury and McKendree managed eight shots each, with DU holding a 6-5 edge in shots on goal.

Tina Haberberger had five saves in posting the shutout for the Panthers.

The Panthers return to action Sunday at home, taking on Illinois Springfield in GLVC play with a noon start.
