SPRINGFIEILD, Ill. – Drury battled Illinois-Springfield to a 1-1 tie on the road Friday. It marked the first tie of the season for the Panthers who went to 8-2-1 and 6-2-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Prairie Stars went to 4-6-1 and 4-4-1 in the GLVC.
Ricardo Estrada gave UIS an early lead with a goal just 5:30 into the game. Drury answered when David Cross converted a penalty kick to tie game 1-1. The goal was the sixth of the season for the defender.
The two teams battled through a scoreless second half and two overtimes.
Drury put 10 shots on goal to the Prairie Stars' eight but were UIS had the advantage in total shots 15-14.
Drury plays again on Sunday at McKendree. Game time is 2:30 p.m. in Lebanon, Illinois.
