LEBANON, Ill. – Charles Guelly scored both Drury goals including one in the second overtime and lifted the Panthers to a 2-1 win at McKendree on Sunday afternoon.
Drury improved to 9-2-1 and 7-2-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. McKendree dropped to 2-5-2 and 1-5-2 in the league.
Guelly put the Panthers in the lead late in the first half on an assist by Robin Almendares. McKendree tied the game in the 72nd minute on a header by Jan Peters that forced overtime.
Guelly's game-winner came from a shot inside the box giving Drury the win two minutes into the second overtime period.
McKendree outshot the Panthers 25-15 and had 12 shots on goal to Drury's six. Nic Helin had 11 saves for Drury in the win.
Drury returns home for two games next weekend. The Panthers take on Southern Indiana on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Lake Country Soccer Complex. Drury is back at Harrison Stadium on Sunday when they host Bellarmine at 2:30 p.m.
