SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury swept past Illinois-Springfield with a 3-0 win Saturday afternoon at the O'Reilly Family Event Center. The Panthers won the opening set 25-20 and the next two sets 25-22.
Drury improved to 18-10, 9-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and dropped the Prairie Stars to 9-19 and 2-13 in the league.
"I thought our communication was great today," said Drury head coach
Jenifer Bahner. "So much of defensive play is just the mentality to go and keep a ball live. I thought we did a great job of keeping balls live and that gave us more opportunities to attack and get points."
Bentley Mara led Drury and all players in the game with nine kills.
Brooke Antenen led the Panthers in three stat categories with 25 assists, 15 digs and two service aces.
Sarah Jane Bateman added 2.5 blocks.
Drury travels to Missouri S&T for their next game. The Panthers face the Miners on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Rolla, Missouri.
