Abbey LeJong helped the Drury Softball Panthers earn a 2-1 win and a GLVC split falling in the nightcap 6-0 at Bellarmine here on Saturday.
Drury is now 7-13, 1-3 GLVC and Bellarmine is now 13-13, 3-1 GLVC.
In the opener the game the game remained scoreless until the bottom of the sixth when Melissa Hammer singled up the middle to score Katie Stamper. Drury answered and tied it up in the top of the sixth on an RBI single by LeJong to score
Kendyl Frerking.
Hillenburg led DU with two hits with the Panthers having seven and Bellarmine finished with seven hits also led by Stamper with two.
Jessica Kjeldgaard (1-6) earned the win for the Panthers and Madeline Kurtz (1-5) received the loss for the Knights.
In the nightcap Bellarmine used a three RBI double in the second by leadoff hitter Erica Knollman for an early lead. A three run homer by pitcher Marlee Tevis in the Knights fifth made it a 6-0 Bellarmine win.
Drury hits came from
Rachael Michaelis,
Chantal Oelrich and
Alyssa Sargent. The Knights registered seven hits led by Stamper with two.
Kjeldgaard got the loss and Tevis (2-4) earned the win for Bellarmine.
Drury will face Rogers State in a pair of non-conference games in Claremore, Oklahoma on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
