WESTFIELD, Ind. –
Grant Thimesch scored off a double steal and a late throw at home in the top of the ninth inning to break a scoreless tie and give the Drury baseball Panthers a 1-0 victory over Walsh at the Midwest Regional Crossover on Friday.
Drury improved to 6-12 and Walsh drops to 8-9.
Ryan Colombo (3-2) posted eight strikeouts to earn the win and also led the Panthers with two hits.
Ryan Wedermyer earned his fourth save of the year entering the game with one out and two Cavalier runners on base in the ninth. Matt Iosue (0-3) received the loss for the Cavaliers.
Drury finished with eight hits and Walsh had seven with Johnny Knight IV, Tyson Lautanen and Brook Clark each having two. The Cavaliers committed three errors and Drury had one. The Panthers left 10 runners on base and Walsh left eight.
Drury will continue play at the Midwest Regional Crossover Showcase tomorrow vs. Cedarville and Alderson Broaddus with games at 12 & 3:30 (Central Standard Time).
