The Drury softball Panthers earned a GLVC split vs. Saint Joseph's winning the nightcap 5-4 after falling 4-1 in the opener at Thompson Field on Saturday.
Drury is now 8-16, 2-4 GLVC and Saint Joseph's falls to 7-18 overall and 4-2 in the GLVC.
In the nightcap the Pumas scored in the first inning on an RBI double by pitcher Briana Wagner. Drury tied and went ahead in the second scoring three runs on five hits Pumas. A two run homer by Myrand Eckberg tied it up for Saint Joseph's in the third.
Drury answered with a homer by
Shelby Weissenbach in the fourth to go on top 4-3. The third homer of the game tied it up once again when Kalene Davis of Saint Joseph's hit one to center and tied it at 4 in the top of the fourth.
Grace Hargadon put Drury on top in the fifth on an RBI groundout that allowed
Abbey LeJong to score and make it 5-4 Panthers.
Weissenbach led Drury with two hits, a run and an RBI with the Panthers getting nine hits off the Pumas. Saint Joseph's finished with seven hits.
Jessica Kjeldgaard (2-7) earned the win and posted seven strikeouts with Wagner (1-3) getting the loss for the Pumas.
In the nightcap, the Pumas took scored on a third inning error for the games first run and scored on an RBI groundout and an RBI single in the fourth to make it a 3-0 lead.
The Panthers got on the board in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single by
Kaelie Smith to plate
Alyssa Sargent. The Pumas stole home in the top of the seventh for the 4-1 final.
The Pumas finished with nine hits and Drury had nine. Haley Miller, Briana Wagner and Myranda Eckberg all had two hits for Saint Joseph's.
Weissenbach (5-9) received the loss for Drury with Morgan Akre (3-3) earning the win for the Pumas.
