Megan Foley posted a combined 34 strikeouts to help No. 2 Indianapolis to a 13-0 win in the opener and a 2-1 extra inning win in the nightcap Sunday sweeping a GLVC pair from the Drury softball team at Thompson Field.
Drury is now 8-18, 2-6 GLVC and UINDY improved to 23-0 overall and 8-0 in the GLVC.
The Greyhounds made it a 2-0 lead with an RBI triple and an RBI single in the third. A solo shot to right center by Jenny Thompson in the fourth pushed the Greyhounds lead to 3-0. UINDY made it a 7-0 final scoring 10 runs on seven hits in the top of the seventh.Â
UINDY finished with 15 hits led by Jessie Noone with three hits and Drury had hits by
Grace Hargadon and
Kari Hillenburg.
Shelby Weissenbach (5-10) received the loss for Drury with Foley (17-0) earning the win for UINDY.
In the nightcap UINDY homered in the first then Drury answered in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Hargadon to score
Abbey LeJong. The game remained tied at 1 until the 10
th inning when an RBI triple to right by Erika Goodwin scored Tayler Weck for a 2-1 UINDY win.
UINDY finished with six hits and Drury had hits by Hargadon and Hillenburg.
Foley earned her second win on the day with 16 K's and
Jessica Kjeldgaard (2-8) received the loss but had a career high 10 strikeouts.
Up next for the Drury softball Panthers will be a GLVC road trip on Friday, March 25
th at Quincy with games starting at noon.
