The Drury softball Panthers earned a GLVC split vs. Maryville winning the opener 3-1 before falling in the nightcap 3-1 at Thompson Field on Sunday.
Drury is now 12-28 overall and 6-16 in the GLVC and Maryville improved to 31-7 overall and 17-5 in the GLVC.
Drury took a 1-0 lead in the opening inning when
Kaelie Smith singled to score
Kari Hillenburg. Maryville scored their only run in the sixth on an RBI single.  A pair of sixth inning RBI hits by the Panthers, a single by
Shelby Weissenbach and the game-winning run off an RBI triple by
Chantal Oelrich gave DU a 3-1 win.
Drury outhit the Saints by an 11-6 tally and were led by Hillenburg,
Rachael Michaelis and Smith who each had two hits. Wendy Macias had two hits for the Saints.
Weissenbach (9-13) earned the win for the Panthers and Nikki Taylor (11-5) received the loss for Maryville.
In the nightcap Maryville scored three runs on four hits in the third inning to claim a 3-1 win. The Panthers got their run in the seventh when
Abbey LeJong singled to score
Karlie Peck.
Maryville outhit DU 8-6 with LeJong getting two hits for Drury.
Jessica Kjeldgaard (2-15) received the loss for DU and Taylor (12-5) earned the win for the Saints.
Drury will face Southwest Baptist on Tuesday in a non-conference pair in Bolivar starting at 2 p.m.
