ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Drury swept both their matches Saturday in the Henderson State tournament and ended the event winning three of four in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The Panthers beat West Alabama 3-1 in the first match then defeated host Henderson State 3-0 on Saturday after splitting two games on Friday.
The Panthers rebounded from a first set loss to win the next three sets against West Alabama (5-2) to start the day. Drury had 10 blocks in the four-set match led by Carlie Fangman's three blocks. Four different Drury players had at least one block with two others that picked up an assist on a block. Brooke Antenen had 11 kills while Bentley Mara added nine.
Drury finished play in the Henderson State tournament sweeping the host team 25-23, 25-15 and 25-22. Antenen racked up 13 kills, 12 digs and two aces in the win while Kendra Sater led with 18 assists.
The Panthers ended the weekend with a 5-3 overall record. West Alabama dropped to 5-2 and Henderson State to 4-4.
After two weeks and eight games in tournaments away from home, the Panther will play theimr home opener and start play in the Great Lakes Valley Conference on Friday. Drury will host Wisconsin-Parkside at 7 p.m. at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
