Drury stays unbeaten with 4-0 win over Saint Joseph's

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Three first half goals set up a 4-0 win for Drury over Saint Joseph's on Sunday at Harrison Stadium / Curry Sports Complex.

The win kept the Panthers unbeaten as they raised their record to 4-0 and 2-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Saint Joseph's dropped to 0-3 and 0-1 in the league.

Drury struck early. In the fifth minute, Robin Almendares split two defenders and scored from seven yards out giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead on his first career collegiate goal.

The Panthers then built a big lead with two goals just before halftime. David Cross scored his second goal of the season on a header from five yards away. Then Cross assisted on a Ben Bruce goal that put Drury ahead 3-0.

Drury added another goal as Charles Guelly scored his third of the season in the 57th minute.

The Panthers scored on four of their 10 shots on goal and had a 20-7 advantage on shots overall in the game. Nic Helin made three saves in his fourth shutout of the year.

The Panthers' 4-0 mark is the team's best start to a season since 2009.

Drury goes on the road for four straight games starting next Friday. The Panthers play at Lewis Friday night for a 5 p.m. game in Romeoville, Illinois.
