ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Drury ran their record to 5-0 and 3-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference as they held on for a 2-1 win at Lewis on Friday night in Romeoville, Illinois. Lewis dropped to 1-4 and 0-3 in the league.
The Panthers, ranked 22nd in NCAA-II, scored two first half goals and got on the board in the 14th minute when Antoine Vial put home his third of the season on a corner kick. Ben Bruce also scored his third goal of the year when he found the net in the 40th minute on an assist from Charles Guelly.
Lewis pulled within a goal on Timm Adler's second goal of the season in the 68th minute.
Drury held on from there as goalkeeper Nic Helin, who allowed his first goal of the halting a streak of 427 shutout minutes, made four saves. Drury owned a 15-10 advantage on shots as both teams managed five shots on goal.
Drury travels to Wisconsin for a conference game on Sunday. The Panthers play at Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday at noon in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
