SPRINGFIEILD, Mo. – After seven straight wins, the 13th ranked Drury Panthers fell for the second straight game in a 2-1 home loss to Maryville on Friday night at Harrison Stadium.
The Panthers dropped to 7-2 and 5-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Maryville improved to 5-4 and 2-4 in the GLVC.
The Saints got on the board 14 minutes into the game on a goal from Helmut Florencia marking the first time this season Drury had given up the first goal in a game. The Panthers also trailed at halftime for the first time this year and fell two goals behind for the first time in 2016 after Kevin Dogerty scored for Maryville in the 51st minute.
Drury pulled within a goal with 6:36 remaining as Charles Guelly scored his sixth goal of the season on an assist from Antoine Vial.
Drury outshot Maryville 8-5 but the Panthers managed just one shot on goal to the Saints' three.
Drury is home again on Sunday when they host Missouri-St. Louis. Kickoff is 2:30 p.m. at Harrison Stadium / Curry Sports Complex.
