AURORA, Ill. – Drury won both of their matches in the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament on Friday with a 3-0 win over Tiffin (Ohio) and a 3-0 victory against Michigan Tech at the Great Lakes Center in Aurora, Illinois. The tournament pits teams from the Great Lakes Valley Conference against teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
Drury won their first game with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-17) win over Tiffin.
Sarah Kite led the team with 10 kills, 10 digs, 1.5 blocks, and two service aces.
Kendra Sater had 35 assists and
Bree Schmidt contributed 17 digs.
The Panthers swept past Michigan Tech (25-21, 27-25, 25-23) to finish their first day in the event. Kite and
Paige Perry were co-leaders in the match with 15 kills. Kite also had 12 digs.
Kendra Sater had 49 assists and two aces.
Drury raised their record to 16-5 with the two wins. Tiffin dropped to 10-8 while Michigan Tech fell to 12-7. The Panthers are now 8-1 on neutral courts so far this season.
The GLVC completed the first day of competition with a 16-7 record. The GLIAC went 6-13 while the GMAC had a 6-8 record on Friday.
Play continues in the event tomorrow. Drury plays one game on Saturday as they take on Lake Erie (Ohio) out of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference at 1:30 p.m. in Aurora, Illinois.
