EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Southern Indiana's only lead against Drury came with one second left in the second overtime when Brandon Williams scored to give the Screaming Eagles a 3-2 win over the Panthers at Strassweg Field in Evansville, Indiana on Friday.
Drury dropped to 7-6-1 and 6-5-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Southern Indiana raised their record to 8-6 and 6-6 in the conference.
The Panthers had a 1-0 lead at halftime on the strength of
Francesco Ferri's goal in the eighth minute. Southern Indiana drew even two minutes into the second half on a goal by Justin Brooks but Drury took the lead back five minutes later on
Stephen Al-Sayed's first goal of the season.
The Screaming Eagles forced overtime in the 86
th minute as Kyle Richardville scored to tie the game 2-2. It stayed even through the first overtime and until the last second of the second OT. The goal by Williams was his first of the year.
Southern Indiana outshot Drury 19-11 and had 11 shots on goal to the Panthers four.
The game was Drury's third overtime game this dropping their record to 1-1-1 when going to an extra session.
The Panthers continue the road trip with a game at Bellarmine on Sunday. Game time is 1:30 p.m. (central) in Louisville, Ky.
