SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – It wasn't Drury's night. For only the second time this season, the Panthers fell in three sets as Illinois Springfield picked up a home win 25-9, 25-20, 25-19 on Friday at The Recreation and Athletic Center in Springfield, Illinois.
The Prairie Stars improved to 14-8 and 6-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while Drury fell to 17-7 and 6-5 in the league.
Illinois Springfield took over the first set outscoring Drury 18-3 after they owned a slim 7-6 lead. The Prairie Stars closed out the second set on a 9-5 run and built an insurmountable lead in the third going from an 8-8 tie to a 19-11 advantage.
None of the Panthers got to double-figures in kills.
Kendra Sater had 22 assists and
Bree Schmidt had 20 digs. Drury had 28 attack errors as a team.
Jailyn Borum led the Prairie Stars with 11 kills and Alyssa Hasler had four blocks.
The Panthers continue their road trip on Saturday as they play at Quincy. Game time is 3 p.m. in Quincy, Illinois.
