SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Drury Panthers got back on the winning track Tuesday with a 3-0 win over Missouri S&T at the O'Reilly Family Event Center. The Panthers snapped a four-game losing streak to improve to 18-10 and 7-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Miners dropped to 8-19 and 1-13 in the league.
Drury pulled away to win the opening set by 11, 25-14 and rallied for a 25-23 win in the second set. The Panthers scored the first four points in the third set and finished off S&T with a 25-12 win in the third.
"For this team, this was a step in the right direction," said Drury head coach
Jenifer Bahner. "This gives a chance to take a deep breath, regroup, focus on the positives and what we have to do next."
Bentley Mara led the Panthers with 14 kills while
Kendra Sater had 33 assists and
Evan Larson recorded four blocks.
"This was a needed win but we still have to be better on our side," added Bahner. "Our attack needs to continue to put a little more pressure on the ball and really challenge our opponents."
Drury plays their final home game of the year on Saturday when they host Rockhurst for Senior Day. Game time is 3 p.m. at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
