KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – After dropping the first two sets, Drury won the third and threatened in the fourth set but fell short at Truman State 3-1 on Tuesday in Kirksville, Missouri.
The Panthers fell to 18-12 and 7-10 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Truman State improved to 16-13 and 8-8 in the league.
The Bulldogs won the opening set 25-13 and took a 2-0 lead with a 25-18 win in the second.
Drury then came to life winning the third set 25-20 and was a point away from forcing a fifth set with a 24-23 lead. Truman State would get the next three points, however, to close out the match.
Bentley Mara led Drury with 12 kills while
Kendra Sater added 32 assists.
The Bulldogs had three players in double-figures in kills as Natalie Brimeyer had 12, Sam Yancy had 11 and Jasmine Brown had 10. Truman State had 13 blocks in the match led by Brown's 4.5.
The Panthers end the regular season on Friday when they play at William Jewell. Game time is at 7 p.m. in Liberty, Missouri.
