SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – With the threat of in-coming thunderstorms, the Panthers and Maryville Saints moved up their weekend four-game series at U.S. Baseball Park to Friday and Saturday. The two teams will play a doubleheader at noon on Friday and again at noon on Saturday.
The second day of the series is Senior Day as Drury will honor their senior players as they play their final regular season home game.
The Panthers are 26-15, 12-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and tied for second place in the West Division. Drury enters the weekend two games behind division leading Quincy with eight conference games remaining on the schedule.
Drury is led at the plate by
Ryan Colombo who is hitting .409 with two home runs and 26 runs batted in.
Nic Perkins carries a .386 average with six homers and 36 RBI's.
Colombo is expected to start on Friday from the mound and is 7-2 with a 3.07 earned run average.
Garrett Woods is also a projected starter on Friday and is 6-2 with a 3.94 ERA.
Maryville enters the series with a 22-20 overall and a 9-11 mark in the league. The Saints are in a three-way tie for fourth place in the West with William Jewell and Missouri-St. Louis.
Mitch Carriger leads their offense hitting .338 with 11 home runs and 46 RBI's. Daniel Covert is also batting .338 with 16 doubles, six homers and 26 RBI's.
AJ Dean leads their pitching staff with a 5-2 record and a 3.58 ERA.
Game one of the series on Friday will be broadcast by Mediacom Connections channel MC-22 and the second doubleheader scheduled for Saturday will be shown live on the internet through the
Great Lakes Valley Conference Sports Network.
