SPRINGFIELD, Mo.–
Jamie O'Brien extended his goal-scoring streak to four games as Drury tied Illinois Springfield 1-1 on Friday night at Harrison Stadium/Curry Sports Complex.
The Panthers moved their record to 2-8-3, 2-5-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and stretched their unbeaten streak to four games as they are 2-0-2 since Sept. 30. Illinois Springfield went to 6-4-3 and 5-2-2 in the league.
After a scoreless first half, the Prairie Stars took a 1-0 lead in the opening moments of the second half on a goal from Daniel Kemp.
Drury evened the game at 1-1 with 20:56 remaining in regulation when
Jamie O'Brien received a pass from
Francesco Ferri and put a ball past Illinois Springfield goalkeeper Pijus Petkevicius. It was O'Brien's fifth goal of the season, his fourth in his last four games and the freshman from Darlington, England has scored in four straight matches.
Drury had the advantage in shots 10-7, and the Panthers managed four shots in the second overtime period. It was Drury's fourth overtime game this season.
Drury plays their final home game of the year on Sunday when they host Quincy for Senior Day at 2:30 p.m. at Harrison Stadium/Curry Sports Complex.
