SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– A pair of second-half goals lifted Illinois Springfield past Drury 3-1 on Friday night at Harrison Stadium / Curry Sports Complex.
The Prairie Stars improved to 2-9-2 and 2-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while the Panthers dropped to 0-12-1 and 0-9 in the league.
Illinois Springfield got on the board with a goal in the 12th minute from Amanda Meyer, but Drury responded a minute later as senior
Gabbe Millot scored her first goal of the season tying the game at 1-1.
Meyer, however, put the Prairie Stars back in the lead in the 56th minute with her second goal of the game as she found the net from eight yards out. Illinois Springfield then put the contest out of reach as Valentina Rodriguez connected on her first goal of the year to give UIS a 3-1 lead in the 71st minute.
Drury outshot the Prairie Stars 13-6 and had eight shots on goal to Illinois Springfield's four but UIS goalkeeper Paloma Guijarro had seven saves in the win.
The Panthers play their final home game of the season on Sunday. Drury hosts Quincy at noon at Harrison Stadium / Curry Sports Complex.
