DU and Truman State men's soccer play to 2-2 tie

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Drury and Truman State men's soccer teams played to a 2-2 tie in a GLVC contest Friday at Harrison Stadium/The Curry Sports Complex.

Drury moved to 1-8-2 and 1-5-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while Truman State went to 2-4-4 and 0-4-3 in the league.

Jamie O'Brien, a freshman from Darlington, England, scored his team-leading third goal of the year, coming in the seventh minute of the contest to get the Panthers on the board.  Truman State evened the score with five minutes left in the opening half when Thomas Bean scored off a Michael Ruzicka assist. Both teams had nine shots and three shots on goal in the opening half.

Mitchell Vaughn, a freshman from O'Fallon, netted a go ahead goal when he dribbled past a pair of Bulldogs in the open field and put Drury up 2-1 in the 70th minute.  Truman would not go down without a fight as a header by Matt Yankowitz found the net in the 77th minute to force an eventual overtime.

Drury outshot the Bulldogs 3-1 in the overtime periods and 20-15 in the game.

Drury hits the road on Sunday, October 7 when they face Lewis in a GLVC contest in Romeoville, Illinois with a noon start.
