NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Drury University baseball team fell 7-5 vs. Trevecca Nazarene University on Saturday at Jackson Field.

The Trojans reached a 6-0 lead by scoring a run in the opening frame and later crossing two runs in the third and three in the fourth. Drury cut the Trevecca lead in half in the top of the sixth on a two run homer by
Ryan Kayhill and an RBI double by
Austin Hoegerl.
The Panthers kept clawing away at the lead, as
Brant Schaffitzel drove home
Caleb Essick on an RBI ground out in the seventh and Hoegerl blasted a solo shot in the eighth to make it a one run game. The Trjoans countered with a homer in the bottom half of the eighth and held DU in the ninth to claim a 7-5 win.
Colby Childs (0-1) received the loss and allowed four earned runs in 3.1 innings. Both teams finished the contest with nine hits.Â
Grant Thimesch went 3-for-3 and scored a run and Hoegerl went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and scored a run to pace the Panthers.
The Panthers fall to 5-9 and Trevecca Nazarene improved to 9-9.

Drury will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to McKendree for a non-conference game at 2 p.m.
