NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Drury University baseball team split a pair of non-conference games, winning the opener 9-5 before falling 7-4 in the nightcap vs.Trevecca Nazarene University at Jackson Field on Friday.

In the opener, Drury jumped out to a 4-0 lead over the Trojans before Trevecca scored three runs in the fifth to pull within a run. The Panthers scored five runs on three hits and an error in the seventh inning to stretch the lead to 9-3. Â The Trojans added runs in the seventh and nine, but could draw no closer.
KK Daniel was 3-for-5 at the plate, had four RBIs, scored two runs, and hit a two run homer in the third. Â
Ryan Kayhill went 2-for-3 for the Panthers who were outhit by the Trojans 11-10.
Austin Simms improved to 2-2 on the mound and allowed three earned runs and eight hits in five innings.

In the nightcap Drury scored two runs in second and third innings, but not overcome the Trojans who added three runs in the third and fifth innings. The Panthers did add a run in the top of the seventh when
Brant Schaffitzel walked with the bases load to plate
Clayton Engel.
Engel went 3-for-4 and scored two runs and Daniel finished his day by going 4-for-8 with five RBIs and three runs.
The Panthers moved to 5-8 and Trevecca Nazarene went to 8-9.

The three-game series will conclude with a single nine inning game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
