SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Missouri S&T broke a scoreless tie with 6:39 remaining to hand Drury a 1-0 loss on Sunday at Harrison Stadium / Curry Sports Complex.
The Miners improved to 2-4-1 and 1-2-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while the Panthers fell to 0-7-1 and 0-4 in the league.
Drury had an advantage in shots through most of Sunday's match until a late push by Missouri S&T gave the Miners several scoring chances in the closing minutes. Morgan Sikora broke the deadlock when she kicked home a shot on a rebound that bounced off of Drury goalkeeper
Sarah Franks in the 84th minute. The goal was Sikora's third of the season.
The Miners outshot the Panthers 10-9, but Drury had four on goal to Missouri S&T's three.
Brinn Cooper led the Panthers with three shots while Sikora had four for the Miners.
Drury continues their homestand next Friday with a 5 p.m. match against McKendree at the Lake Country Soccer Complex.
