SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury scored an early goal, but 14th ranked Bellarmine responded with two first-half goals and held off the Panthers for a 2-1 win on Friday at Harrison Stadium in Springfield.
Drury dropped to 7-5-1 and 5-4-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while the Knights stayed unbeaten moving to 9-0-3 and 6-0-3 in the league.
The Panthers got on the board three minutes into the game as
Jamie O'Brien scored his GLVC-leading 10th goal of the year on an assist from
Joshua Lewis-Evans.
Bellarmine evened the game on a goal from Collin Rose in the 25th minute. Five minutes later, the Knights took the lead as a shot from Tomas Bernedo bounced into the net for his seventh goal of the season.
The two goals were the first allowed by the Panthers in three games and 358 minutes.
Drury made a push in the second half and put up five shots but could not draw even.
Mitchell Vaughn led the Panthers with three shots in the game with one on goal.
The Panthers are back at home on Sunday for their final home game of the year. Drury will honor their senior players before their 2:30 pm against Indianapolis at Harrison Stadium/Curry Sports Complex.
