Bellarmine holds off Panthers for 2-0 win

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Drury Panthers threatened in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Bellarmine Knights built on their 1-0 lead at halftime to win 2-0 on Friday afternoon at Harrison Stadium in Springfield.

Bellarmine got on the board midway through the first half as Kenzi Gooley scored on an assist from Brentyn Dodd.

The Panthers then controlled the opening minutes of the second half and nearly tied the game on a Natalie Beck shot from 20 yards out that went just wide.

The Knights grabbed a cushion moments later, though, as Samantha Ferry gave Bellarmine a 2-0 lead with her fourth goal of the season.

Keeley Combs had a pair of shots for Drury, including one on goal.

Bellarmine improved to 9-3-1 and 6-3-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Panthers fell to 1-11-1 and 1-9 in the GLVC.

Drury plays their final home game of the year and will celebrate Senior Day when they Indianapolis on Sunday at noon at Harrison Stadium/Curry Sports Complex.
