SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- To keep their perfect conference record intact, the Drury Panthers had to rally from two sets down and pull out a 3-2 victory over Quincy at the O'Reilly Family Event Center on Saturday.
 
Drury improved to 15-11 and maintained sole possession of first place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference improving to 9-0. Quincy fell to 11-14 and 4-5 in the league.
 
The Panthers had four chances to win the first set, but the Hawks fought off those set-points to prevail 30-28, then blasted Drury in the second set 25-14. The Panthers took the third set 25-21 and carried momentum into the next set with a 25-15 win. Drury led wire-to-wire in the fifth completing their comeback with a 15-8 victory.
 
"In the first two sets, we were struggling to find a good rhythm," said Drury head coach Jenifer Bahner. "Going into the third set, we actually turned our rotation so we could get a different blocking match-up. I think that slowed them down a little bit."
 
Regan Dennis led the Panthers with 19 kills while Julia McCown added 15. Makina Wratten had six block assists, and Maddie Baumer contributed one solo block and four block assists. Reba Thomsen had 49 assists in the match for Drury.
 
The win was Drury's third five-set win on the season.
 
The Panthers are back on the road next weekend when they travel to Maryville for a 7 pm game on Friday in St. Louis, Missouri.
