SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– For the second straight game, Drury narrowly fell to a top 25 team as McKendree, ranked 25th in this week's NCAA-II poll, edged the Panthers 1-0 on Friday at Harrison Stadium/Curry Sports Complex.
The game's only goal came in the 55th minute on a penalty kick. Drury was called for a handball in the penalty area, and McKendree's Emma Knoebel scored her first goal of the season.
The Panthers made a late push but could not get a shot past Bearcats goalkeeper Zoe Brochu in the closing seconds as McKendree recorded their third straight shutout.
Both teams put two shots on goal, and Drury's Keely Combs led the Panthers with two shots. DU was without three starters due to injury including leading goal-scorer
Kayla Day.
